We believe that communal care is what will save us, that love must be intentional,
and that joy is a spiritual practice. We believe that we have a responsibility towards one another to cultivate these things and more.
Through our podcast, writings, research and other musings,
On An Ethic of Care holds conversations on care, connection and community to help us:
1. understand what care is and how to provide this love in action
2. think critically to deepen our emotional intelligence, empathy and compassion
3. be creative in developing more sustainable love practices and ultimately, a new world.
This space, created by J (known to some as Jade and others as Joselyn), is birthed out of her lived experiences with family, friends and community, her journey healing from trauma, as well as her expertise as a mental health professional and spiritual care giver.
During her seminary journey at the Candler School of Theology, she realized how much she loves care ethics and communal rituals to connect us. On that journey, she completed several projects and papers around developing her own Womanist Ethic of Care and wanted to curate more space to explore those frameworks, which brings us here.
Professionally, J currently serves as the Director of Mental Health and Wellness for a national faith organization. She is a Licensed Professional Counselor and Registered Art Therapist and has a Masters of Divinity with a concentration in Chaplaincy. She is also a Registered Yoga and Meditation Teacher. Which means, she has a lot of stories and thoughts about how we take care of each other and ourselves, and ideas on how it all works and how we can care better. Join her on the journey of processing it all.
